Boro's manager Gareth Southgate revealed
that he was impressed by the form of Mohamed Shawky
when he started for Boro in a couple of away matches.
The coach added that Shawky is now adapted more to the
English game and should have bigger role at the club
next season.
Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Shawky couldn't
represent Boro much this season. It took him alot of
time to adapt to the English Premiership pace and style
of play. He also had troubles with injuries.
However, the upcoming season will likely
witness the real start for Shawky as a Premiership player.
The highly rated Egyptian midfielder will get a bigger
role at the club next season as reported by his manager,
Gareth Southgate.
Southgate believes that Shawky did very
well in the couple of away matches that he participated
in this season. However, injuries caused a lot of frustration
for the player and his manager as he wasn't able to
play regularly in more games.
Southgate said: "We hope he'll play
a big part next season. In the games that he's played
away from home he's done very, very well, but it's just
been very frustrating.
"It took him a while to adapt to the speed of training
and then when he had got into the side he had to go
to the Africa Cup of Nations.
"Unfortunately he's had a couple of knocks since
he came back but we feel he can play a bigger role next
season."
It should be noted that the road will be paved for
Sawky to play more games as the midfielder Fabio Rochemback
left Boro and returned to his former club Sporting Lisobon.
EP wish Shawky the best in preseason preparations...
