signings) of the season.

The Sun newspaper picked the top 10 worst
buys (in their opinion) of the season in the Premiership.
Unfortunately, Mido came as 4th in this list while the
Chelsea man Florent Malouda came as first.
In their report, The Sun pointed out that
Manchester United spent £65 million on Carlos
Tevez, Owen Hargreaves, Anderson and Nani and they all
turned to be great signings.
On the other hand, many other Premiership
clubs, Especially Tottenham spent their cash on players
who couldn't make the desired impact.
In their comment on the Egyptian striker
Mido, they criticized the Egyptian for scoring only
a couple of two Premiership goals in 15 games which
is considered as a very low record for a player at his
Premiership experience and price tag.
To be fair, Mido spent the entire season
either unfit or injured, and he also never attended
preseason with Spurs or Boro. For that reason, the season
was the worst for the Egyptian in his entire career.
Everyone knows what a fit Mido is capable of doing but
the question remains, when we will see Mido again in
full fitness, proper weight and sharpness in front of
goal? such a question should be answered by Mido himself
who should try his best this summer to change all these
negative views on him.
Ironically, the list contained two of
Tottenham's biggest signings, Younes Kaboul and Darren
Bent who joined the club this season and couldn't impress.
Both players came to Mido and Ghaly's former club in
a hope they can improve the club's 5th position that
they achieved in the past twop seasons to reach the
the top four. In the end, Spurs are currently in the
lower half of the table. The list also includes Derby's
biggest signing this summer Robert Earnshaw who couldn't
help his side escape relegation.
The top 10 flop buys according to the
Sun:
No1: Florent Malouda
Malouda is the latest in a long line of Chelsea players
to fail to live up to their bloated price tag. The Blues
spent much of last summer chasing the £15m Frenchman
but the forward has looked lightweight and unthreatening
in the Premier League. Malouda would face competition
from Claudio Pizarro, Tal Ben Haim and Steve Sidwell
were they not all free transfers.
No2: Rolando Bianchi
Perhaps Manchester Citys new-found wealth went
to Sven Goran Erikssons head because little else
can explain the £9m arrival of Bianchi from Reggina.
The Italian striker was never suited to life in the
Premier League, particularly while wearing gloves and
a rollneck.
No3: Darren Bent
At £17m, Bent was always going to struggle to
justify the price tag particularly as a substitute.
The striker has failed to break up the dominant partnership
of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane. Eight goals have
saved him from being branded a complete flop but Bent
must do better next season.
No4: Mido
Eyebrows were raised when Middlesbrough boss Gareth
Southgate moved for Mido after losing star strikers
Yakubu and Mark Viduka. The £6m man got off to
a flyer by scoring in his opening two matches but the
goals dried up and the Egyptian failed to find the net
in his subsequent 15 games.
