Mido in the centre of refereeing controversy, again!

Egyptian striker Mido received a straight red card in the match versus Arsenal. He came on to replace Aliadiere and just 10 minutes after he came, on, he had to leave the field again because of the red card incident.

This is not the first time that Mido receives a harsh sending off. But against Chelsea, he was shown a straight red by referee Rob Styles. The Egyptian appears to attract such decisions often which could be a result of his continuos attempts to talk to referees over and over following many refereeing decisions.

It should also be noted that the Egyptian was booked in the game versus Aston Villa follwing an argument with the match referee who awarded Villa a controversial penalty kick.

Everyone agreed, decision was harsh:

This time, everyone agreed that Mido's red card was a harsh decision. Starting from the critics on ShowSports channel who agreed that the the injury to Clichy wasn't intentional at all and a yellow card would be more than enough.

In addition to this, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger replied to a question whether Mido injured Clichy on purpose or not, and the French manager didn't believe the kick was intentional at all.

Moreover, Gareth Southgate backed Mido and decided to appeal against the decision. The Egyptian will be automatically banned for three matches but if the appeal got accepted and the decision got overturned, the Egyptian will be able to participate in next match.

Mido's teammate striker Jeremie Aliadiere faced a similar problem a few weeks ago after he pushed Mascherano and was suspended for four games after the appeal against his sending off was rejected.

Aliadiere believes that Mido's sending off was harsher than his sending off and hopes that the ban will be lifted.

Speaking to the Northern Echo, the Frenchman said:

"I think Mido's red card was even worse than mine to be honest,"

he said. "Hopefully, it will be overturned and he won't have to go through what I did.

"I feel sorry for Mido because I know what he is going through. It is hard when you are sent off for something like that. It was the wrong decision, and we don't need to have another player out for a long period of time."

Southgate also had some interesting quotes regarding the same incident:

"The lad is distraught because he is not a dirty player," he added.

"He was looking at the ball and trying to control it, but it was away from him. I've seen plenty of players try to control things at that height.

"If you look at his reaction afterwards, there is no anger in his face and no intent.

"He went straight down to see Clichy and he was obviously disappointed that it was quite a serious knock.

"You could rightly ask, Should he have his foot that high', but I don't think there was any intent there and I think a three-match ban for that would be very harsh."

It should be noted that Mido went to Arsenal's dressing room just after the match to visit Clichy.
