Aliadiere believes that Mido's sending off was harsher
than his sending off and hopes that the ban will be
lifted.
Speaking to the Northern Echo, the Frenchman
said:
"I think Mido's red card was even
worse than mine to be honest,"
he said. "Hopefully, it will be overturned and
he won't have to go through what I did.
"I feel sorry for Mido because I know what he
is going through. It is hard when you are sent off for
something like that. It was the wrong decision, and
we don't need to have another player out for a long
period of time."
Southgate also had some interesting quotes regarding
the same incident:
"The lad is distraught because he is not a dirty
player," he added.
"He was looking at the ball and trying to control
it, but it was away from him. I've seen plenty of players
try to control things at that height.
"If you look at his reaction afterwards, there
is no anger in his face and no intent.
"He went straight down to see Clichy and he was
obviously disappointed that it was quite a serious knock.
"You could rightly ask, Should he have his foot
that high', but I don't think there was any intent there
and I think a three-match ban for that would be very
harsh."
It should be noted that Mido went to Arsenal's dressing
room just after the match to visit Clichy.
