Mohamed Shawky started in midfield in tonight's tough
away clash for Boro against the Gunners. On the other
side, Mido will be on bench at start as Aliadiere returned
back to selection. The first half ended in a 0-1 lead
for Boro as Aliadiere scored from a counter attacking
move. Shawky has been replaced during half time and
Lee Cattermole cme on to replace him. In the 77th minute,
Mido replaced Aliadiere and received a straight red
card after an aerial challenge with Clichy.
Boro won a point from Arsenal and could
win the three points but a late goal by Kolo Toure meant
that the points were shared between both sides.
Aliadiere returned to selection after
4 matches ban which meant that Mido will be back to
bench. On the other hand, the new signing Alves wasn't
included in the match squad due to injury.
Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Shawky started
the game alongside Boateng in midfield. Shawky did OK
but wasn't at his best. The Egyptian didn't look so
confident and so, he was taken off during halftime and
Lee Cattermol came on to replace him.
Boro played defensively and relied on
counter attacks. The only goal came after a long ball
by Shawrzer to Tuncay who was onside and crossed with
his left to Aliadiare in front of goal, the latter finished
well and gave his side the lead.
Arsenal tried hard to come back into the
game but Boro had many men behind the ball and defended
their lead bravely till the 86th minute when Toure headed
home after a corner kick from the right wing.
Egyptian striker Mido came on in the 77th minute to
replace the goalscorer Aliadiere. The Egyptian couldn't
make an impact as he was isolated at front after Tuncay
came off early on in the 2nd half.
However, Mido was in the center of attention
in the 88th minute as he received a straight red card
after a silly aerial challenge with Arsenal player Clichy.
Mido tried to head the ball but he had
his foot up and it hit the face of Clichy who feel onto
the ground and needed medical attention. The match referee
showed the Egyptian the red card but a yellow would
be the most fair decision.
With this result, Boro remained 13th in
the table while Arsenal dropped to the 2nd spot after
Manchester United's 1-0 narrow win over Hossam Ghaly's
Derby.
