Both George Boateng and Mohamed Shawky started together
in the midfield for Boro in their away clash with the
Villans. Both midfielders played extremely well and
didn't allow Villa to gain possession in midfield. Boateng
is happy with his partnership with Egyptian international
Shawky and hopes they can play together again against
Arsenal tomorrow.
Shawky did extremely well especially in first half
"Everybody was disappointed that
we didn't win but happy that we performed better and
the result should have been better," said Boateng.
"It's been a difficult year for me
being in and out of the team, but Shawky and I did well
and helped the back four and hopefully we can get the
chance to play together in the future."
Speaking on Boro's upcoming clash with
Arsenal at the Emirates stadium, he added:
"We've beaten Arsenal at home and
nothing is impossible in football. If on the day you
want it and show desire, who knows what might happen?"
It should be noted that both Boateng and Shawky received
praise from the team coach Gareth Southgate for their
effective play in midfield which let Villa hardly have
the ball.
