Great overhead kick by Mido vs Sheffield United

Mido had some interesting comments on his first start since the 20th of October, he said:

“I thought I was Marco van Basten for a moment with the overhead kick, the keeper made a good save,” he said.

“I hope to score some goals and get myself fit for the last 10 games.

“I think I started very well when I first signed and the injury has been a big blow for me.

On his long term injury, the Egyptian described it as the worst injury that he suffered in his entire career:

“It’s the worst injury that I’ve had, even worse than anything in your knee because you can’t do anything.

“Because every time you jog you put pressure on the injured area.

“But these things happen in your career and you have to get on with it.

“I’ve worked very hard with the physios and yesterday you could see it was a bit better for me.

Mido expects that he will reach his top form in two more weeks:

“I’m sure the next couple of games will get me back to top form.”

On the replay which is scheduled at the 27th of February, Mido said:

“Now we are going to get them back at home in the replay. I still don’t think it’s going to be an easy game. But we’ve been doing very well as a squad and haven’t lost in a while now.

“I think at the beginning of the season we may have lost a game like Sheffield United but we have got character in the team and you can see the spirit in the dressing room on the pitch.”

“The fans have been great with me and it was great to see 6,000 Boro supporters coming down,” he said. “I think the supporters are behind us now more than any time before this season because they can see that we are fighting for everything. They can see players fighting for each other and that pleases the crowd most.”
