In an exciting physical game, Boro hold Newcastle to a 1-1 draw. After a boring first half, Michael Owen scored from a powerful header in the 59th minute to give the homeside the lead. Boro fought hard to get back into the game and Robert Huth managed to level the score just four minutes before the final whistle. Mido missed the match as Boro started with a defensive tactic with only Aliadiere at front and Southgate prefered to have Dong Gook on bench instead of Mido who isn't 100% fit.

Mido didn't even make the bench vs Newcastle

Mido didn't feature in the away game versus Newcatle. The reasons beyind that are related to his fitness levels which are not enough for him to start games yet.

Mido missed matches for around three months and gained weight. He also lack his sharpness and it will tke him plenty of training to get back to his normal fitness level and to lose the kilograms that he gained while being injured.

Southgate has been eagerly awaiting Mido's retun, but since it took more than it was expected, the club had to splash the cash on a new striker as they spent £12.7m on the Brazilian striker of Heerenveen Alonso Alves.

The new forward was the best player in the Dutch league and has an incredible goalscoring record as he scored 45 goals in 38 appearences!

Alves is still awaiting his work permit and so, he couldn't play against newcastle and so did Tuncay who is still suffering from injury.
