Mido came on as substitue to Korean striker
Dong Gook in the 70th minute of Boro's away FA cup clash
with Mansfield Town. The game ended in a 0-2 win for
Boro as Gook scored in the 17th minute while the 2nd
goal came via Buxton who headed home into his own net
in the 88th minute. Mido held the ball well and made
a good flick on in the few minutes he played but he
looked overweight and it will take him a few weeks to
get back to his normal fitness levels.
Mido made his long awaited return to Premiership action
Egyptian striker Mido came on in the 32nd minute to
replace the injured Tuncay in Boro's home clash with
Wigan.
Hossam did considerably well Bearing in mind that he
is still far away from his fitness and top form. He
got close twice, once in each half but couldn't hit
the target.
Mido had the chance to score in the 44th minute when
he tried a shot with his left from inside the box but
his shot went well wide. He also tried a header in the
66th minute but his marker headed the ball behind for
a corner before Mido.
The Egyptian passing was good and he helped in clearing
some dangerous crosses into Boro's area.
Boro deserved their win as they were the better side
throughout the game especially the first 20 minutes.
In this period, they created more than a chance to score
but Tuncay and Aliadiere squandered all of the chances.
Mido prepares to replace Tuncay
Minutes later, Aliadiere received a clever through pass
and advanced on the keeper before hitting the ball home
with his left to give Boro the lead.
In the 32nd minute, Tuncay looked injured and Mido
started to warm up in order to replace him. The whole
crown started to chant Mido's name as the Egyptian prepares
to make his return to the green pitch.
Hossam had only 2 chances
By the time Mido came on, Wigan started to improve
and look dangerous and so, the Egyptian didn't get chances
to score.
