Mido came on as substitue to Korean striker
Dong Gook in the 70th minute of Boro's away FA cup clash
with Mansfield Town. The game ended in a 0-2 win for
Boro as Gook scored in the 17th minute while the 2nd
goal came via Buxton who headed home into his own net
in the 88th minute. Mido held the ball well and made
a good flick on in the few minutes he played but he
looked overweight and it will take him a few weeks to
get back to his normal fitness levels.
Egyptian striker Mido finally made his return to the
green pitch on Saturday noon as his side won in FA cup
against Mansfield Town by two goals to nil.
Mido-who didn' participate in official games since
the 20th of October- came on as sub for Korean striker
Dong Gook in the 70th minute and had little to do.
Mido only touched the ball a few times in the 20 minutes
that he played. He did well in terms of holding the
ball under pressure and his passes were complete. He
also made a good flick on to Aliadiere in the area but
the latter couldn't take advantage of it.
It was obvious that Mido is far from being fit and
he looked overweight because of lack of training. The
Egyptian will need a few more weeks to get back to his
normal fitness levels and will have to lose some kilograms
in order to regain his sharpness once more.
The match was generally poor but Boro got the job done
and won the game as they scored in the 17th minute through
Dong Gook who slotted the ball home from inside the
box while the 2nd goal came via Buxton who failed to
clear the ball off the line with his head after a cross
by Boateng and headed it home instead to double Boro's
lead.
The positives from that game was the return of Mido
after around three months an he will hopefully get more
playing time in the coming games...
