Egyptian ace Mido continued to receive praise although he didn't appear on the score sheet in Boro's last win over Birmingham. This time, Birmingham's boss Steve Bruce heaped praise on the Egyptian striker and regretted not signing him this summer

"Over the years they have had very, very good strikers here and he's definitely a very, very good striker," The Birmingham coach said.

Bruce praised Mido's enthusiasm and style of play which has helped improve Boro's early season form by winning against Fulham and Birmingham and holding Newcastle to a 2-2 draw.

"He wears his heart on his sleeve and he's given a performance to show what we've missed and all credit to him," he added.

In addition to this, Birmingham striker Mikael Forssell had only kind words for the striker that could have been his forward partner. Although expressing his confidence that he would have kept his place in the side had Mido arrived, he reserved a special mention for the Egyptian, whose potential summer move to City collapsed.

"I think Mido is a great player in every way and you can see that. There is no doubt he is a quality striker,"

"I don't think him coming here to Birmingham would have meant the end for me because we are different types of players and bring different qualities to the table.

"All I know is that whoever comes in, competition is always good because it keeps you on your toes. I think I could have played alongside him.

"I'm sure we could have done well together for Birmingham."

After the game against Forssell's side, Mido was praised by the British press, and especially by tabloid paper the "Sunday Mirror".

The paper's analysis of the match includes a "Head to Head" section, in which, features Mido and the Birmingham defender Jaidi. It reads as follows:

"Jaidi must have been hoping he would be one of the players hooked off in a triple substitution, but his agony continued as Mido's first touch and intelligent movement ensured a harrowing 90 minutes for the entire Blues' defence". The same newspaper rated him at 7 out of 10.
