Mido, posing in a Middlesbrough shirt, told the national magazine that he feels good to be at the Riverside. "At a club like Tottenham, there is too much politics surrounding the club," he said, contrasting it with Boro, where he can concentrate on his game.

Mido said this his "ultimate dream" is "to lead Egypt to the World Cup," but when asked why his country hasn't reached the competition since 1990, he answered with a number of factors.

Hossam claimed there is "poor management" in Egypt, but his main point was the lack of Egyptian players playing in Europe.

"Egyptian clubs need to let their players into Europe," he correctly argued, as many professionals abroad have done but to no real avail.

Mido may return this weekend against Blackburn but is not going to feature in the African Cup of Nations which starts on Sunday.
