Mido Talks about National Team in English Magazine
Date: 16-1-2008 Wrote by: EP's editor Islam Issa
Mido made the cover of English magazine
'The League' this month, alongside fellow star Africans
Geremi and Benni McCarthy. In his featured interview,
Mido sais that his ultimate dream is to lead Egypt to
the World Cup, and that Egyptian clubs need to let their
players into Europe if that dream is to become a reality.
Mido, posing in a Middlesbrough shirt,
told the national magazine that he feels good to be
at the Riverside. "At a club like Tottenham, there
is too much politics surrounding the club," he
said, contrasting it with Boro, where he can concentrate
on his game.
Mido said this his "ultimate dream" is "to
lead Egypt to the World Cup," but when asked why
his country hasn't reached the competition since 1990,
he answered with a number of factors.
Hossam claimed there is "poor management"
in Egypt, but his main point was the lack of Egyptian
players playing in Europe.
"Egyptian clubs need to let their players into
Europe," he correctly argued, as many professionals
abroad have done but to no real avail.
Mido may return this weekend against Blackburn but is
not going to feature in the African Cup of Nations which
starts on Sunday.
