Mido was set to make his long awaited comeback Tonight versus Wigan reserves. Gareth Southgate was hoping to give the £6m forward a 45-minute run but he felt that the Egyptian is not quite ready for action yet.

Mido has been recovering from a hairline fracture of the pubic bone which has kept him sidelined since October.

Gareth Southgate was hoping to give the Egyptian the chance to play for 45 minutes today:

“Mido is not too far away. I need to look at him again tomorrow, but he may have 45 minutes in the reserves.

The manager will hopefully give Mido some minutes of action against Liverpool next weekend though:

“Hopefully he will be ready for the weekend, but I would think that at best he would be on the bench.”

On the other hand, the Egyptian national team staff are closely monitoring Mido's status as he still have a little chance to play in Ghana 2008.
