Shawky patiently awaiting his chance

Shawky spoke to Boro's official webpage and revealed his happiness at the club and also denied that he might be back to Egypt any time soon. The Egyptian also added that he is patiently waiting for his chance to come and that he realises that it would take him some time to adapt to the pace of English Premiership matches.

"I'm very happy here. I like the football club and my team-mates.

"I knew it would take time to settle, but in the three months I have been here I feel I have become a better player because I am adapting to a different pace that football here is played at.

"I have been in a lot of first team squads without getting a chance to play, but I am desperate to get in the team to help Middlesbrough and show the supporters what I can do.

"The manager has said to me that he is happy with my progress. I am confident I can get in the team. I feel I am ready to play now. "

"I knew it would be hard, that I would have to adapt to the pace of English football, but I feel that it is a privilege to be here and have this chance," he said.

"Every player, no matter where they are from, wants to play in England. This is my chance and I am not going to give it up."

I like the country and the people and I am very happy here, especially now that my wife Kawsr is here with me," he said.

"It is a big help to have Mido here with me as a fellow Egyptian, but all the players have welcomed me here."

Regarding the ACN, Shawky commented by saying:

"I may be away for up to a month, but my heart is set on becoming a regular player for Middlesbrough," he said.

The Egyptian midfielder also dismissed reports that he could be set for a quick return to Egypt, he said: "There is no truth in the rumours. I don't want to go back to Egypt.

"I want to stay here and become a success. The manager has said he has faith in me and I am determined to show that he is right to support me."
