Speaking to Boro's official page, Mido said: "For the first three or four games I was okay, not 100% fit, but okay. But the mistake I made was playing in pain, it turns out that has made it worse.

"At first we thought I had adductor tendon inflammation," he explains. "But after two courses of injections over four or five weeks we found that wasn't the case, so we had a bone scan taken and it was revealed that I have a swollen pubic bone."

On the rumors that spread quick in England about him leaving the club without permission and heading to Egypt, the Egyptian clarified the misunderstandings by saying:

"That was one of the most stupid things I have heard. Everyone here knows how professional I am and how hard I am working to get back. I have a goal here, I want to get back and score a lot for Boro and I believe this will come. It hasn't come yet because of the injury."

Regarding his programme to get back to fitness, he revealed that it could take up to eight weeks for him to become fully fit again and ready for games. .

"It will be an eight-week different phase rehabilitation plan, the first part without running, just some cycling and core work. We thought I may need surgery, but we have decided against that.

"It's been very frustrating for me because I was very close to returning. I am here to play football and I know I can make a difference to the team. There is no question that I want to show everyone at the club what I can do.

"There is still time to turn things around here. I believe the lads will do well in the next period without me, but when I come back I help them do even better.

"I can't wait to come back, I have never been injured for a long time before.

The Egyptian concluded his interview by promising the fans that he will save no effort to help his team move away from the relegation zone.

"I'm waiting for the good times here, I'm sure they are going to come and there is no question. I know that my good time is coming, I just don't know when.

"I can't wait to come back and I promise the Boro fans they will see a player who can help the club because this is what I'm here for."
