It is now confirmed that Mido's hamstring
injury will keep him out of action for just a few days.
The Egyptian will miss this midweek League Cup fixture
against Spurs but reports suggest that both him and
the Turkish striker Tuncay will be able to feature against
Everton next Sunday. Read also:
Boro's coach Gareth Southgate revealed
today that Mido and Tuncay's injuries are minor ones
and both players will have a big chance to feature in
the away clash with Everton on Sunday. However, both
will not be able to participate in tomorrow's league
cup encounter versus Tottenham Hotspur.
Regarding the Argentinean midfielder Arca,
the injury will keep him out for approximately eight
weeks:
"Both Mido and Tuncay have gone for
scans and there's no significant damage and both have
a chance of playing on Sunday. Said Southgate.
"However, the injury to Julio looks more serious.
It's the medial ligaments in his knee and it looks like
it will be at least two months." He added.
With all Boro strikers (Aliadiare, Mido and Tuncay)
suffering from injuries, Southgate will have to start
with a striker from the reserve team to play alongside
Dong Lee in the difficult Spurs clash.
It should be noted that the injury of Julio Arca will
likely speed up the introduction of Egyptian midfielder
Mohamed Shawky to the first team.
More on Shawky and Mido soon...
