"If we fight for every game like we did against
Fulham, I believe we can finish in the top six.
"This result gives us a big boost as we prepare
for the Newcastle game, they're a good side but we have
a great chance of getting another three points."
On the other side, Mido's new boss Gareth
Southgate praised the Egyptian for beiing able to show
this kind of form and score an important goal while
he is still lacking in match practice.
"When I discussed the idea of playing
Mido with the medical team on Friday their faces were
a picture," said Southgate.
"He's had no pre-season, he's hardly trained for
the last couple of weeks and he's not had a game for
five months. All the scientific impressions were that
we'd be mad to play him.
"I thought about playing him off the bench but
I just felt he would give us that presence he's brought
into the club since he's been here.
"He's an intelligent man and he's got a drive
and a desire to play. He's already made a big difference
in the dressing room.
"We've got a young dressing room and while he's
still young, he's a bit worldly wise because he's obviously
travelled around and he's confident.
"He's got more belief in some of our players that
they've got in themselves. That side of his character
will be great for us."
