Mido's commnts from the press conference:
"It's been a little bit of an irritating
summer for me with all the speculation," he told
a press conference at the club's Rockliffe Park training
ground on Friday afternoon.
"To be honest once Middlesbrough showed up and
I met the gaffer I made up my mind and I'm very happy
I'm here.
"After I spoke to the gaffer and what he told me
about his plans and how ambitious the club were, it
was easy."
Mido became a cult hero at White Hart Lane during a
loan spell from Roma but fell out of favour last season,
making only a handful of starts.
"I've never had a problem with Martin Jol, he's
a good manager, but I wanted to be playing and scoring
goals," he explained. "I didn't find myself
doing that at Tottenham and that's why I wanted to leave."

But the Egyptian hitman stressed he does not consider
the move to Boro a step backwards and emphasised that
Spurs were in a similar position to Boro when he first
joined them.
"I don't see Middlesbrough as being at a lower
level than Tottenham because people forget and I always
remember that when I signed for them they were not a
top six club," he said.
"They had finished ninth before I came and in
my first season they finished fifth, just two points
outside a Champions League place.
"You can see how the club is ambitious and that
there is the quality here to be in the top six.
"This is where I want to be and hopefully I can
play a big role in helping them achieve this.
"I'm very confident with the quality here I can
help Middlesbrough get back into Europe."
