Spurs'
four strikers for the new season are not going to include
Mido. Jermain Defoe has confirmed he is happy at the
club, while Darren Bent arrived from Charlton Athletic
for around £16.5 million.
When asked by Spurs' magazine who the
most exciting players he's worked with are, manager
Martin Jol replied: "I would have to say Dimitar
Berbatov, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe. I can't choose
between them."
Defoe himself told Sky Sports that he is eager for
the new season to start. Jol had always spoken of ideally
liking to have four top strikers to choose from, and
it seems that he has chosen the four as Bent, Berbatov,
Defoe and Keane.
Meanwhile, Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp may be
turning away from Mido. Spurs had offered the Egyptian
to Pompey, but the English manager has named two players
Mido has played with as his targets. Both have rivalled
Mido for places in the Spurs line-up.
"I'd love Defoe or [Fredi] Kanoute," said
Redknapp on Wednesday. It remains to be seen whether
he will be able to get one of these targets. Kanoute
did indeed admit that he is keen to return to English
football after his achievements at Sevilla.
