The Spurs front man has spent most of this season on the subs bench, generally used as a reserve for Dimitar Berbatov, as Martin Jol opts for a pairing of Berbatov and Defoe or Keane.

Despite almost leaving for Manchester City in January he has stated that he wishes to stay on at White Hart Lane. Speaking to Skysports on Sunday he said:

"If I have a good finish and do well at the end of the season I will have a meeting with Martin and if he is happy, I am happy and the club are happy then I will stay, of course.

"I would prefer to stay at Tottenham. If I left Spurs and went to somewhere like Manchester United, they have four strikers.

"Louis Saha for me is one of the best strikers in England and when he came back from injury he had to wait, that is how it works."

Meanwhile, Martin Jol has praised Mido for his defending as well as his contribution to the two first goals.

"That (defending at corners) was what we did well... They've got six or seven big players and we stood up to be counted.

"They have got more size than us, but Mido was there, Gardner was there and for the first two goals Mido was involved, then Berbatov came on and scored a great goal, so it was nice."
