Reports in the British media today claimed that Mido's move to Man City depends on Sylvain Distin moving in the other direction in a player-plus-cash deal.

In today's Daily Mirror, it exclusively reveals that Man City boss Stuart Pearce has offered Sylvain Distin as part of the £3 million deal for striker Mido.

It reveals that Pearce is desperate to sign Mido, yet was struggling to finance the transfer as well as pay for his £35,000-a-week wages, "which meant the deal was on the brink of collapse". Yet now that the French defender has been offered as part of the transfer, it would get a high earner of the wage bill and reduce the fee to around £2 million.

It also says that: "White Hart Lane boss Martin Jol now regards signing him in the summer as an expensive mistake. Mido has gained a bad-boy reputation after a string of bust-ups and has also struggled to stay fit and keep his weight in check".

Want-away defender Distin has been a long term target of Spurs, yet it is said he wants to see out his contract and leave on a Bosman free transfer at the end of the season as it could earn him a lucrative move and contract.
