Celta Vigo have confirmed their desire to sign Mido on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, which would be the second time Mido is farmed out to the Spanish outfit.

After becoming fourth choice striker at White Hart Lane, due to a mixture of bad luck and injury problems, he has since been linked with a £3million move to Man City as well as a permanent move to Celta Vigo.

Yet it now appears the Spanish side would be interested in a loan signing, claiming Spurs are desperate to off load the forward before the end of the transfer window. Celta president Carlos Mourino revealed to the Spanish press the club are hoping to strike a deal to bring Mido to Balaidos.

Mourino speaking to AS: "Tottenham want to sell him, but Mido has a price that we cannot afford.

"We are looking for a loan deal. We would like to partner him with (Fernando) Baiano because he is a good player, who has already done well here.

"We are doing our best to get him, but we are keeping our options open."

This would mean Mido returns to the team he helped into the Champions League Mido in a successful loan stint at the end of the 2002/03 season when he was signed from Ajax.
