The report in the Daily Mirror, with the headline being "City's £3m move for forgotten man Mido", claim that Man City want "odd-man-out striker" Mido in what it describes as a "shock" swoop.

The paper goes on to say: "Pearce wants the powerful Egyptian who has found himself on the fringes at White Hart Lane since returning for a second spell at Spurs on a permanent deal for Roma."

"Now City hope that boss Martin Jol will sell his fourth-choice hitman and give Pearce a new, experienced forward as he looks for more firepower to breathe new life into his season.

"Mido has been a City target in the past but they will never have a better chance of landing him as Dimitar Berbatov, Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane are ahead of him at the Lane."

The report goes on to claim that Mido may fancy the move to Man City, who have struggled to find the right combination up front, chopping and changing between Bernado Corradi and Georgios Samaras. Pearce, who has around £3million to spend on a proven striker, sees Mido as the perfect target.
