Reports stating that Jol and Mido had an argument may well be true, though the Dutch manager played it down. It is clear that the rift was not serious, but within it, Jol reveals what he said to Mido which can still be taken negatively.

The Mirror had followed up the Daily Mail's news that Mido and Jol had fallen out and that the club want him out. This has not been confirmed and is likely not true. However, the manager has indicated in what he said to Mido, that he is not too happy with his input. Moreover, it is revealed that Mido has been asking for playing time. Finally, and most worryingly, there appears to be an admittance that the Egyptian is merely a back-up for Dimitar Berbatov.

Martin Jol answered questions as to whether he had an argument with Ahmed Hossam, by stating what he said to the striker.

"I wanted [you] to be productive," Jol is quoted as saying to Mido on Thespursweb.com.

"You have to be fit and be ready for when Berba is not fit."

Jol adds that Mido wants to play, but isn't ready yet. "If you change your team sometimes, they want to play but that is management," he said.

"He (Mido) wants to play but he is not fit so he can't play."
