Paper Claims Mido Dispute & Attempts to Offload Him

Date: 11-1-2007

An English tabloid has claimed in what is referred to as an 'exclusive' article, that Martin Jol and Egyptian star Ahmed Hossam have had arguments, and that Spurs have already tried to get rid of him this transfer window.

Darren Lewis writes in Wednesday's 'The Mirror' newspaper that Mido and Jol have had a number of rows in recent weeks, and that the striker has not turned up to training on a several occasions.

It is added that in an attempt to part ways with Mido, Tottenham have already offered him to two struggling clubs. Spurs have reportedly included him in their bid for Charlton striker Darren Bent - a possible transfer EP reported about in the past. They have also offered him to West Ham United, who apparently rejected.

Today, a respected newspaper revealed that Watford winger Ashley Young may go to Spurs in a deal worth a few million Pounds as well as Wayne Routledge (currently on loan at Fulham) and rising defender Callum Davenport. EP has learnt exclusively that Watford are looking to strengthen their attack, and mere speculation suggests Spurs may offer Mido to the London club should any of The Mirror's report be true.

Martin Jol and Mido have never hinted at problems together, let alone recently. It has been clear that Mido is suffering from recurring injuries, and Jol even praised him for playing under instruction, while injured, against Liverpool. The two reports, including the Daily Mail's yesterday, may suggest that these are cover-ups for what is really happening, and that Jol's praise is intended to keep a better image of Mido so that clubs will still line up for him and not think of him as a bad-boy. However, this is pure speculation derived from the paper news, and the truth remains to be seen.
