A British newspaper claims that Martin Jol has admitted making a mistake in buying Mido, and is ready to let him leave to the interested Portsmouth.

An article in the Daily Mail tabloid reads that "the Dutch coach has conceded that he made a mistake bringing Egypt striker Mido to the club and is prepared to offload him, possibly to Portsmouth, during the window."

Portsmouth had indeed shown interest in Mido in the summer, though the truth of this statement cannot be confirmed. It is same to say that many newspapers need space to fill particularly during the transfer periods. Martin Jol praised Mido after his showing against Liverpool, and depite missing an easy chance, the Egyptian was dubbed a "good lad" for playing while injured after being instructed to do so. Mido has not featured in recent games due to a groin problem as well as a thigh injury a few weeks ago.

Moreover, the lack of a quote in the Mail brings this claim into serious question, as Martin Jol has rarely, if ever, made negative comments about specific Spurs players.

One thing for sure, however, is that Ashley Young is on Tottenham's wish-list. The winger could rival Hossam Ghaly in the midfield should he sign, though only a huge fee will take him away from Watford. Meanwhile, Aaron Lennon has signed a new deal at Spurs which will keep him there till
2012.
