Spurs continued to disappoint in away matches as they lost heavily to Arsenal by three goals to nil.

The game started with pressure from the homeside, but the match was even at this stage. Spurs even had a chance to score through Malbranque when Berbatov laid the ball to him from the left side of the box but Malbrangue sent the ball wide and squandered the chance.

In the 20th minute, Berbatov gave away possession cheaply to Arsenal and a long through pass was played to the onside Adebayor who raced clear behind the Spurs defense, faced Robinson and buried the ball home into the far corner to give Arsenal the lead.

The goal was the turning point in the game as it gave the homeside a big morale boost and their confidence gave them total control on the pitch. On the other side, Spurs lost control over the midfield totally and let their opponents and long time rivals outplay them.

Tottenham's side suffered from the poor performance from the Ivorian Zokora and Teemu Tainio who couldn't link well with the forwards and gave away possession often.

In addition to this, the full back Ekotto had a day off as he couldn't stop the Arsenal danger from the right wing and also had some mistimed tackles that could led to him being sent off. However, he was lucky to go away with just a yellow card.

The poor display from Spurs continued and the match referee Graham Paul pointed to the spot in the 42nd minute after a tackle from Chimbonda on Rosicky inside the penalty area. The decision was dubious as Chimbonda got to the ball before catching Rosicky's leg but the penalty was given and Gilberto Silva managed to convert it to double Arsenal's lead.

During half time, Martin Jol decided to make a couple of chances to limit the damage as he took off Malbranque for Jenas and Ekotto for Lee. The changes helped Spurs to perform slightly better but they never looked eager to get back into the game.

With Jenas on, the midfielder had a few decent runs forward and a shot that was parried by Lehman and fell to Lennon who reacted slowly and squandered the chance.

In the 72nd minute, The referee whistled for another penalty kick for Arsenal to add to Spurs misery. The decision for the spot kick was another dubious call from the referee as Van Persie handled before getting inside the box and getting caught by Jermain Jenas. The match referee didn't whistle for the handball from Van Persie but instead, he counted the penalty kick for the foul by jenas.

The spot kick was converted by Gilberto Silva as well. This time, he sent Robinson the wrong way and scored by placing the ball into the lower corner.

In the 80th minute, Martin Jol finally decided to introduce Defoe to the game. However, the striker had very little time to make any real impact.

It should be noted that Ghaly and Mido missed today's match. Ghaly is still suspended because of his red card while Mido still needs a week or more to recover from groin injury.

With this result and poor display from Spurs midfield, Ghaly will likely get back to starting eleven as soon as returns from suspension.
