Ahmed Hossam has started a duel with Portsmouth centre-back Sol Campbell, claiming he is the easiest defender he has ever played against!

"Portsmouth is a really important game for us," said Mido ahead of the game on Sunday.

"They have Sol Campbell at the back and he is the easiest defender I have ever played against," he added.

"I'm not scared of him."

Mido played against Sol Campbell in November 2005's North London derby, a game which the defender performed disastrously in.

However, Campbell has been wonderful this season, playing for a Pompey team that has conceded just a single goal in six games.

Moreover, this is viewed by many as an unprofessional attitude from Mido, who may be trying to play psychological games before the kick-off.

Campbell has had a sparkling career, and has played in top international and domestic tournaments, winning no less than 68 caps for England.

Harry Redknapp, Portsmouth manager, though has reacted angrily and jumped to the defender's defence. "What an arrogant thing to say," he told The Sun newspaper.

"It's an insult coming from somebody who has not achieved as much as Sol has in his career. It shows a total lack of respect and those comments will embarrass every footballer in the game as we don't talk like that about fellow pros.

"I'm sure his manager at Tottenham will also be embarrassed when he reads those remarks as it shows Mido has no real feeling for the game over here.

"One thing is for certain, I won't have to say too much to my lads in the dressing room at Tottenham. I'll just stick a newspaper cutting up on the wall and that will do for me."

As Harry Redknapp said these remarks will fire up Sol Campbell and his team, yet once the talking is over it will be up to Mido to prove what he said on the pitch.
