Tottenham fans turned out in good numbers in Czech, and were quick to welcome their Pharaoh at the front with chants of "Mido, Mido!"

The striker didn't do an awful lot in fairness, but was effective at times.

Mido started the game off brightly, and was fouled a couple of times in quick succession as he showed his ability to shield and run with the ball using his excellent power.

This was followed by a decent run on the left, in which Mido surprisingly out-paced the right-back before delivering a brilliant low and curling cross which nobody latched onto.

The game was full of half-chances, but Mido was on alert at the back, defending a number of crosses and corners well with his head, and urging his team-mates on.

Around the half-hour mark Slavia suffered a blow when their keeper Michel Vorel fell after taking a kick. Matus Kozacik came on for him without a warm-up, but made no mistakes as he dived to stop a Chimbonda header which was sneaking in after a decent corner from Jenas.

Spurs managed to score the away goal in the 37th minute, when Mido played the ball to a running Zokora, who set up Jenas perfectly for a shot on the edge of the box. Jenas made no mistake with the finish and it was 1-0.

There was hardly any action after the goal, though Spurs were given cause for concern when Tomas Hrdlicka had an effort on goal which beat Robinson but went just wide. Michael Dawson also played a part in clearing a dangerous free-kick which Robinson parried.

The introduction of Robbie Keane for Defoe meant Mido completed a full game. Keane had a chance at the end but the keeper denied him by rushing out to stop the ball in a one-on-one situation.

It was a good enough result for Tottenham, on their return to European football. In two week's time the teams will clash in White Hart Lane for the second leg...
