Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Ahmed Hossam Mido on a permanent basis, subject to him being granted a work permit.

This does not come as a surprise after EP had reported that Mido was in North London yesterday (Monday) to complete medical checks.

Also it appears that Mido decided against the idea of remaining at Roma to prove him, after he didn't start the Italian Super Cup against Inter Milan. His agent, Mino Raiola stated to the Italian newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport:

"Hossam understood on Saturday evening that he was not to be in Roma's plans. Should the coach put him on the bench in an important match like the San Siro's one, it means at Roma there isn't space for him."

"So, Mido, who wanted to try his luck with the Giallorossi, accepted Tottenham's offer, where they know him and they love him."

Today on the Spurs official website Martin Jol confirmed the move saying: "We've been tracking Mido since his loan ended and we were always keen to bring him back.

"Roma took some persuading and I'm delighted to have him in the squad. "He knows I like him as a player, his strength in the air and his mentality. It's an excellent addition to the squad and our striking options are now complete."

After the success of the last season for Mido at Spurs, were he always reiterated his desire to sign permanently for Tottenham, he was relieved to finally complete the move after a long summer.

"I'm very happy to be back," said Mido speaking at Spurs Lodge. "It was and it always will be a great honour for me to play for Tottenham.

"I always knew in my heart I would be coming back. It is a fantastic move for me, I have some good friends here and it will be good to be back with the lads. I saw them training today and I'm looking forward to working with Martin and Chris again.

I can't wait to pull on a Tottenham shirt, to play at the Lane and score some goals."

These will mean that the two Egyptian internationals of the Premiership will be re-united once again. This move will please many of the Spurs fans who had been disappointed at their poor start to the season.

The two week international break, were Mido will join up with the national side tomorrow (Wednesday) in time for Sundays game against Burundi, will give enough time for the work permit to go through and for Mido to prepare for his "debut" against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

EP would like to wish Ahmed Hossam Mido the best of luck in his latest career move...
