Roma have accepted an offer of €5
million for Mido from Blackburn Rovers, who are offering
the striker €1.8 million a year.
The Serie A club have stated that Mido is "the
key" to them purchasing Vucinic, adding that they
will put the money back into the transfer market in
order to buy the Serbian striker.
It is also suggested that such an attitude from Roma
is likely to ease Mido's decision to accept the Blackburn
offer, though he had initially rejected it, stating
that he wants to fight for his place in the team.
Rovers manager Mark Hughes has also since stated that
he wants a decision as soon as possible. "Hopefully
we'll be able to get an answer on a number of people
we're interested in and then we can get them into the
building as soon as possible because I would prefer
that they prepare with the group for the majority of
pre-season," he is quoted as saying on the Lancashire
Evening Telegraph.
"It (the Mido saga) has dragged on for longer than
I expected but it's not dead," he added.
It should be noted that Roma's target Vucinic is 22
years of age, and like Mido, is regarded as a target
man.
