EP starts the annual season reviews with a review on Ahmed Hossam's best season in years. The Egyptian made a huge impression in the first half of season but the ending was unfortunately anticlimax as he couldn't get a permanent deal to stay in England.

The Egyptian striker Mido returned to his glory days last season and most of Tottenham's success in the last year can be attributed to his excellent form. Hossam scored 11 important goals in the Premiership and assisted many times in the 27 appearances that he made.

Mido was on top form starting from pre-season preparations. He lost alot of extra weight and looked lean and sharp in front of goal. The Egyptian scored a goal for Tottenham in their first preparation game versus the non-league Stevenage Borough. Not only this, but the young Pharaoh led Tottenham to win the Peace Cup in South Korea.

Hossam won the confidence of Jol and Spurs fans thanks to his excellent form in the peace cup, he scored a beautiful goal against Boca Juniors in the group stage and was rested versus the South African side Sun Downs in the game that ended in 3-1 victory to the Spurs. In the last game of the group stage, Mido scored versus Real Sociedad and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the final match, Mido proved the at he can be a great assister as he provided two great assists for Robbie Keane who scored versus the French champions Lyon and the Spurs won their first trophy of the season.

After this tournament, expectations were very high that Hossam will play a great role for the Spurs and both the coach and fans were delighted with his form.

Hossam continued to impress in the last two preparation games as he scored a goal versus Reading and made a good display versus Portuguese champions Porto.

Spurs kicked off the new season with a an away game versus Portsmouth and Mido helped in the first goal and assisted the 2nd as the game ended in a 0-2 win for Spurs. A few days later, Hossam scored versus Middlesborough and everyone realized that Mido will play a major part in Spurs success last season.

Later on, Mido faced a difficult situation in Spurs big clash with Chelsea as the Egyptian was sent off just a few minutes after the kick off, the decision was wrong but the Egyptian suffered three matches suspension just three weeks from his explosive start.

After Mido's suspension, Spurs never won any of the three games that Mido missed, they drew with Aston Villa and Liverpool , They even got eliminated from league cup after embarrassing defeat at the hands of Grimsby Town.

The poor form of Spurs in Mido's absence made Jol, fans and the Media agree that Hossam is one of the major reasons beyond Spurs success.

Mido returned from suspension and so did wins as Totenham managed to win their home match versus Fulham by a single goal, Mido also scored a couple of important goals versus Charlton and Everton to put his side in the 2nd spot in the Premiership table!

The form of Spurs declined a little after that as they drew with Man United and Arsenal before Losing by a single goal to Bolton Wanderers.

After this brief spell of poor results, Mido scored against West Ham and Sunderland and the Spurs returned to form thanks to his goals and assists.

With African Nations Cup approaching, Mido scored a couple of goals to keep Spurs in the 4th spot in the table, the goals were against Portsmouth and Boro. The Egyptian also scored a great goal versus Newcastle United in Spurs 2-0 win at White Heart Lane.

Just before leaving to ACN, Mido scored another goal versus Man City but couldn't help Spurs beat the Reds.

After Mido's departure to help Egypt in the ACN, Spurs suffered alot as they lost their top scorer and target man. On the other side, Mido's form didn't help Egypt much in the ACN as the Egyptian only scored a goal versus Libya and was suspended for six months from representing the National team after the outburst between him and Shehata in the semi-final clash against Senegal.

Soon after his comeback, Mido scored a great goal and assisted another versus Wigan. Not only this, but Hossam also grabbed Spurs winner in a great match versus Blackburn which ended in a 3-2 win.

After this game, Mido featured in the away match versus Chelsea and Spurs lost 2-1. Mido wasn't at his best in that game and received some criticism from fans. The Egyptian started to feel pain in his leg after the match and missed the next game because of a groin injury.

Against WBA, Mido came on in the 2nd half to inspire Spurs comeback into the game. The Egyptian was once again in top form and his entrance helped the Spurs to end the game in a win.

After WBA match, Mido's agent announced that Spurs will unlikely sign Mido at end of season. and it seems that this announcement put Mido's morale down as he was in miserable form in the next two matches of Tottenham, particularly versus Newcastle and Man City.

A week later, Spurs faced Everton in an away clash and Mido left just before the game as his groin problems started to show again. The Egyptian continued to suffer from groin problems which kept him away till the end of season.

The Egyptian realized that he is not going to sign permanently for Spurs and this might be the reason beyond the decline in his form towards the end, he also gained some extra weight because of lack of training which made it easy for Spurs fans to let him go with ease.

Hossam is currently in Egypt trying to keep fit and will be at Roma unless his club accepts another offer from one of the Spanish or English clubs that showed interest in signing him.

EP hopes that Mido's coming season will be as good (if not better than) his previous season with the Spurs...
