Mido confirmed that he is unable to feature
due to an injury. "It's an injury that I've had
for the last week. I tried my hardest to recover but
couldn't.
"When I started training again I felt pain in my
groin tendon, so I had to get straight back off.
"The medical staff tried pain-killers to help
me but it didn't work and so I can't play."
When asked for his views on the issue in the Daily
Mail, in which it was rumoured that he left the Lane
before the Man United fixture, he commented: "This
is what papers are like. I haven't had any problems
with Tottenham and I've put my all for this club.
"You get this 'paper-talk' so much when you are
injured or unfit. They love to make stories up when
you aren't playing, but when you are fit and scoring
goals none of this happens."
Asked who would win the derby game between the two rivals
he replied immediately with one word. "Tottenham!"
Finally, Mido was confronted with a question over whether
he'd stay or leave the club. "I will try my best
with Tottenham until the end of the season," he
replied.
"Tottenham are still negotiating to keep me and
I hope for that.
"But if it doesn't work out then it's not the
end of the world, because if I'm not here next season
I'll be playing at another club."
