Spurs new boss Harry Redknapp spoke after the match
about the Ghaly incident in which he told Ghaly not
to come on after hearing the whistles and booes which
were directed from the crowd at Hossam.
Ghaly was about to come on but after
a little chat with Redknapp, he stayed on bench
The double standards from Tottenham supporters
continued as they were leaping up and down and shouting
at Redknapp asking him not to allow Ghaly on.
This comes a year an a half after the
latter throw his shirt onto the ground after he was
taken off a few minutes about coming on at the time
of Martin Jol in the match versus Blackburn Rovers in
2007.
The fans quickly forgot a similar incident
from their former striker Robbie Keane who threw his
training jacket onto the ground after being substituted.
However, in case of Ghaly, the fans won't forget what
he did and so, the best option for Ghaly is to leave
the club and join another side with more appreciative
fans.
Losing four of his teeth wasn't enough
for the fans to show sympathy for the Egyptian and welcome
him again in the Spurs shirt. His assists and fine performances
in 2007 which helped the side to end 5th in the league
weren't enough to satisfy the fans either.
On this case, the new Spurs boss commented by saying:
I didnt know what was going on,
said Redknapp of the boos,
"I asked Clive Allen, who told me that
Ghaly threw his shirt down. I couldnt send him on when
I heard that. The atmosphere could have turned nasty.
With such treatment from fans, Ghaly is expected
to leave in the current window as part of an exchange deal.
His next destination is not yet known but some rumours linked
him with a move to Boro and Portsmouth.
