On the other hand, Spurs took advantage of a poor refereeing
decision in the 2nd half as the match referee whistled for
a penalty kick for Spurs. The decision was poor as Campbell
surely made a dive but the spot kick was awarded and Pavulochenko
converted it to give Spurs the lead.
Despite going behind by a goal, Wigan never
looked dangerous enough to pull level and even became more
exposed at the back. This lead to another goal which came
through a diving header by Modric after the ball bounced off
the foot of the post.
Wigan managed pto pull a goal back through Camara
who scored from close range to make the score 2-1.
In the 81st minute, Hossam Ghaly started to
warm up and was about to come on, but Redknapp changed his
mind and kept Ghaly on the bench. This was most likely due
to the fans who started booing Ghaly as he made himself ready
to make the substitution. He decided to bring Lennon on for
Modric and the latter made the assist for the 3rd goal which
came in stoppage time.
With this result, Spurs will go through to the
next round while Wigan will be out.
EP wish Ghaly the best in the coming period and will keep
you updated with all his latest....
