    Wigan out of FA Cup:

Amr Zaki's Wigan suffered a 3-1 away defeat in the FA cup at the hand of Tottenham Hotspur. The game witnessed the return of Hossam Ghaly to selection as he appeared on the bench. Ghaly was about to come on and make his first official appearance for Spurs since the throwing shirt incident but Redknapp decided otherwise and kept the Egyptian on the bench.

Wigan missed many key players and sio, they failed to carry their Premier League form with them in the Cup and the result was their exit from the competition. They missed Amr Zaki and Heskey in attack due to injuries, the goalkeepers Pollit and Kirckland due to injury as well and the team captain Mario Melchiot as well.

After losing so many key players, Wigan didn't look sharp in neither attack nor defense. Kapo was anonymous throughout the game while Henri Camara looked much sharper and was amongst the best performers for Wigan in the game.

In the goal, Wigan's substitute goalkeeper as a major liability as he was at fault in the 3rd goal and didn't show enough confidence throughout the match.

On the other hand, Spurs took advantage of a poor refereeing decision in the 2nd half as the match referee whistled for a penalty kick for Spurs. The decision was poor as Campbell surely made a dive but the spot kick was awarded and Pavulochenko converted it to give Spurs the lead.

Despite going behind by a goal, Wigan never looked dangerous enough to pull level and even became more exposed at the back. This lead to another goal which came through a diving header by Modric after the ball bounced off the foot of the post.

Wigan managed pto pull a goal back through Camara who scored from close range to make the score 2-1.

In the 81st minute, Hossam Ghaly started to warm up and was about to come on, but Redknapp changed his mind and kept Ghaly on the bench. This was most likely due to the fans who started booing Ghaly as he made himself ready to make the substitution. He decided to bring Lennon on for Modric and the latter made the assist for the 3rd goal which came in stoppage time.

With this result, Spurs will go through to the next round while Wigan will be out.

EP wish Ghaly the best in the coming period and will keep you updated with all his latest....
