Ghaly's
Derby faced West Ham in an away encounter this afternoon.
The Egyptian played the full match and did well. Ghaly
also assisted Derby's only goal in the game when he
sent a superb through pass to Mears who faced the keeper
and made the score 1-1. However, the match ended in
a 2-1 loss for Derby as the homeside scored again in
the 77th minute.
Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly continued
to impress despite the poor form of his side Derby County
who suffered another defeat at the hands of West Ham
on Saturday afternoon by two goals to one.
The match was even but poor defending
from the Derby side cost them another defeat. Derby
played relatively good and their midfield was the best
with Ghaly and Savage.
The chances in the first half were very
few but West Ham managed to take advantage of poor marking
by the centre defender Leacock who let Zamora get ahead
of him and power a header at goal to score the first
goal in the 20th minute.
The goal reflected why Derby is in the
bottom of Premiership with a single win. They lack the
basic quality needed for Premiership level of football
in all their player except Ghaly and Robbie Savage.
After the goal, Derby tried to come back
into the game but West Ham defense was well organized.
In the 45th minute, Hossam Ghaly tested the goalkeeper
with a shot from outside the box but it came off a defender
and was saved by the keeper.
In the 2nd half, Derby and Ghaly shone
in patches, particularly in the 60th to 65th minute.
The Egyptian created a real chance for Mears in the
62nd minute when he sent a terrific first time through
pass to the onside forward but the goalkeeper rushed
out quickly and blocked the ball at Mears feet.
A couple of minutes later, Derby started a quick counter attacking
move and the ball reached Ghaly who sent a great through pass
to Mears who sent it home this time and made the score 1-1.
After the goal, the coach Paul Jewel wanted
to increase his attacking options in a hope he can win the
game so he introduced Emmanuel Villa in place of David Jones.
On the other hand, West Ham brought in Carlton
Cole who made an instant impact as he scored the winner for
West Ham. The goal came through a good run from Ljenberg from
the left wing, he passed the ball on the floor to find Cole
in the six yards box and the latter sent the ball home to
make the score 2-1 and win the game for the homeside.
