Hossam Ghaly didn't start the game against Sunderland
but he came on in the 2nd half. The match ended in a
boring goal-less draw but Ghaly made a great life saying
tackle just minute before full time to deny Sunderland
from scoring the match winner.
Ghaly didn't start today's match between
Derby and Sunderland. The game ended in a dull 0-0 draw
which extended Derby's inability to win to 22 games!
coach Paul Jewel criticized the team after last week's
loss and decided to make some changes by putting Ghaly
and Fagan on the bench, and suspending the captain Savage.
This match saw Derby with the worst home record (six
points from 13 matches) against Sunderland, one with
the worst away record (two from 14).
Derby started with the aging centre-backs Stubbs and
Moore in the absence of Leacock and Davis. Savage was
left out completely, with David Jones winning a recall
in midfield.
Ghaly came on in the 57th minute to replace the injured
Jones, He didn't change a lot of the poor performance
of both teams, as he didn't create chances although
he made some good passes and won tackles .
In the 33rd minute, Chopra scored for Sunderland but the goal
was ruled out for offside! Replay revealed that the referee's
decision was wrong.
In the 42nd minute, Sunderland almost scored another goal
but this time comic defending by Alan Stubbs could cost him
and his side a goal. However the ball went just wide.
In the 56th minute Derby almost scored as first Miller then
Villa fail to convert crosses into the Sunderland net during
a hectic period in Sunderland's area.
Egyptian Ghaly didn't get the ball often today, but he made
the highlight of the match for Derby as his great life saving
tackle in stoppage time saved Derby from defeat.
