Hossam Ghaly performed well in his 2nd game for Derby
who face Pompey in an away encounter. The guests scored
an early goal and defended their lead for a while but
three goals by Benjani gave the match points to Portsmouth.
Ghaly played a full match for Derby against
Portsmouth. The Rams weren't expected to win despite
the fact that Pompey missed some of their key players
due to ACN.
However, Derby did look close to win as
they score early on through Nyatanga after 4 minutes
from the kick off.
After the goal, Derby looked in a good
shape and had a chance to add another goal but Portsmouth
managed to recover from the early shock and score the
equalizer in the 38th minute through Benjani.
The same player headed the ball home in
the 42nd minute to make the score 2-1 before half time.
Ten minutes after the kick off of the
2nd half, Benjani started a fast counter attacking move
and finished it superbly to make the score 3-1 an confirm
Pompey's lead.
As always, Derby didn't look like getting back
into the game at all as their passing wasn't accurate and
they lacked the quality in all their lines.
Ghaly, however, looked in a good shape, he did
some good tackles and his passing was quite good. The Egyptian
also tried to go forward often and tried to create goal scoring
opportunities. The best chance he created was in the 88th
minute when he sent a superb chip to Barnes who faced the
keeper and almost scored but his shot was blocked by the goalkeeper
for a corner.
With this defeat, Derby remained in the bottom
with only 7 points...
