Newly promoted Premiership strugglers Derby County and Sunderland are considering a move for Hossam Ghaly, it has been revealed.

  • The midfielder was quoted on Egyptian television as saying: "Sunderland and Derby [County] made approaches but no concrete offer has been tabled.

    "Things will become clear next month as the transfer window is looming," he added.

    The former Feyenoord man is training with his ex-club Al-Ahly in order not to lose match fitness. However, he denied that he may return to Egypt.

    The player's agent had told EgyptianPlayers.com that several English clubs are indeed interested in his client's services. Among them was Aston Villa, and Wigan Athletic are thought to also be considering the midfielder.
