Just a few days from the start of the
preseason phase, Spurs faced Stevenage Boro in a friendly.
The game ended in a comfortable 3-1 win.
Martin Jol made his selection from the
players who started training last monday and so, many
players didn't feature in the game.
Spurs formation included Cerny as goalkeeper,
Ifil (Riley, 87), Daniels (Hughton, 87), Rocha (Mills,
62), and Gardner in defense, Murphy (Livermore, 80),
Malbranque, O'Hara (Maghoma, 72), and Taarabt in midfield
and Keane, Bent (Barcham, 67) as forwards while both
Egyptians Mido and Ghaly weren't included in the match
squad.
The first half ended in a 1-1 draw. Spurs
took the lead first through Robbie Keane who scored
from the spot but Stevenage Boro managed to pull level
through a low shot from inside the box.
In the 2nd half, Tottenham's new signing
Darren Bent scored on his debut after receiving a fine
through opass from Malbranque.
The 3rd goal came through Adel Taarabt
who scored from a shot from outside the box, the goelkeeper
made a fatal error as he let Taarabt's weak shot to
beat him to make the score 3-1.

"We had a number of players not involved and had a lot
of younger players in the squad who all got on, so that was
positive for us," said Martin after the match.
The Spurs coach also added: "We were able
to play some younger players and show our fans the likes of
Jamie O'Hara, Jacques Maghoma, Jake Livermore and Chris Riley,
so that was positive.
"Darren Bent also scored his first goal, we won the
game and we came away with no injuries, so that was all positive
for us as well. It was our first friendly, the sun was out
and overall, it went well." Jol concluded.
It should be noted that Spurs 2nd friendly match will be
in Dublin (Scotland) as they face St Patrick's on the 12th
of July.
