Tottenham will face Southend United tonight in the Carling cup. The midweek fixture will witness some changes in Spurs squad as some players will be rested after the last weekend match versus Man City.

Hossam Ghaly played the last two encounters against Bucharest and Manchester City, he would start in tonight's match if he was fit but the player is suffering from a dead leg and a knock on the back and thus, he won't be selected for the match.

Tottenham are suffering from severe shortage in midfielders as Lennon is suffering from injury as well. On the other side, Zokora will be suspended and Jermain Jenas will not play as he still unfit to play games.

Martin Jol reported on Tuesday afternoon: “Aaron is still not 100 per cent so he will be out, he’s not quite fit enough to be in the squad tomorrow and we’ll have another look on Friday for the Newcastle game.

“Hossam Ghaly had a dead leg at Manchester City and a knock on his back, so he’s not in the squad. Robbie Keane is doing well but both he and Jermaine Jenas are both out for another couple of weeks.

“Didier Zokora is also out suspended, he’ll be back in consideration for Newcastle.” Michael Dawson returns after a one-match ban.
