Hossam Ghaly put on a Spurs shirt for the first time
yesterday as he started for the club's reserve team.
The Egyptian says that he can't wait to play for Tottenham's
first team, but is waiting for 100% match fitness. He
also explains his reasons for joining Spurs.

Ghaly Reserve Debut:
Ghaly played for the first hour in Tottenham's reserve
match with Portsmouth's reserves. The first team fixture
of this game was also Mido's Spurs debut, in which he
scored twice. (Watch Mido's action in that game in EP's
exclusive clip: Mido's Debut)
Hossam played a good game in the midfield but also came
close to scoring in the second half. A cross was played
in for the Egyptian who leaped and headed, but the ball
went just wide of the target.
Tottenham had taken the league in the first half when
two former first-teamers combined to good effect; Reid
assisted Kelly who made the score 1-0.
Both Irishmen had a great game and Reid got his goal
in the final minutes when he hit past the Pompey keeper
from close range.
Back to Training:
"I have been training with the team, I am not
feeling pain any more and feel fit," said Ghaly
to Spurs' official website.
"I haven't played for two months now so I will
probably have to take it slowly, train more with the
team and play with the reserves for one or two games,"
he added.

Happy at Spurs:
Hossam indicates that he is happy at his new club, and that
it was his greatest ambition to play at a club like Tottenham.
"It is good here, everyone is nice, friendly and helpful
- on and off the pitch. I like it here," he commented.
"I have watched a lot of the games and have known about
Tottenham since I was young. I had a big interest in English
football and knew a lot about the club, even more since Mido
came to play here. Everybody in Egypt has been watching the
games since then. Tottenham is a big club in Europe and everybody
knows the history and it appealed to me."
Explaining why he came to the Premier League, he said: "I
always wanted to play in England because it is the best league
in Europe now. I like the way English teams play, they play
fast and hard with everyone moving.
"I think it will suit my style of play and that is why
I decided to move. I feel I played enough to prove myself
in Holland and wanted to test myself more."
Ghaly is set to play a few more games in the reserves before
hoping to break into the first team. Assistant manager Chris
Hughton is also hoping that is the case. "There is no
doubt he has an ability on the ball and I am really looking
forward to him getting match fit and playing some part in
the run-in we have to the end of the season," said Hughton.
