Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly suffered a groin injury
just before the home match featuring Feyenoord and Willem
II. The game ended in a big margin victory for the Rotterdammers
as they crushed their opponents by six goals to one.
Feyenoord achieved an impressive win by
six goals to one over the close-to-relegation side Willem
II on Thursday night. The first half was frustrating
for the Rotterdammers as Willem played defensively and
didn't allow Feyenoord to create many chances. However,
a goal through the star of the game Dirk Kuyt in the
45th minute made the job in the 2nd half an easy one.
In the 2nd half, particularly in the 49th
minute, Feyenoord doubled their lead through Pardo who
played instead of the injured Hossam Ghaly who missed
the match because of groin injury.
In the 60th minute, Feyenoord added their
3rd goal through Kalou who also scored another one in
the 68th minute, while in the 74th and 78th minutes,
Kuyt scored two goals to seal his hat-trick.
Willem II's only goal came in the 66th minute through Reuser
who scored through a well placed shot from the edge of the box.
The victory put Feyenoord in the 2nd spot in
the table and just one point away from the top side, PSV who
wasted two points in their home draw versus Twente.
