EXCLUSIVE:
The Egyptian national team goalkeeping coach Ahmed Soliman
has confirmed to EgyptianPlayers.com that there are
seven Egyptians in Europe in contention for a place
in the squad for the African Cup of Nations.
Starting with the bad news, the coach
confirmed that Hosni Abd Rabo's injury in Ligue 1 may
deny him a place in the squad. "Hosni had an injury
and will be back after three weeks," remarked Soliman.
As a result, he may not be able to join the team's preparations
and so will be allowed to travel with Strasbourg to
Tunisia rather than play with Egypt.
After showing confusion about Mohamed Zidan's current
status, there was nothing abnormal about the situation
in regard to the four from Turkey. "Ahmed Hassan,
Ahmed Belal, Beshir El Tabei and Abdelzaher El Saka
are training with the national team," he said.
However, Ahmed Belal has had a cold and that is the
reason for him not making his international come-back
against Uganda.
With regard to Feyenoord's Hossam Ghaly, Soliman denied the
rumour that the midfielder has been left out of the national
team but added: "We still haven't chosen the final names
in the squad."
