Ghaly's Feyenoord lost their away match in the last
16 round of the Dutch cup to Roda by a single goal.
Ghaly played from the start and was taken off in the
70th minute when Koeman needed to increase his attacking
options. The whole Feyenoord side couldn't perform well
and lost their 2nd game in a row.

Roda seemed to be a good chance for this. However, Feyenoord
continued to fall deeply into form crisis as they lost
the game by a single goal after a sub par performance
from the Rotterdam based side.
Erwin Koeman criticized Ghaly after the
last match as the Egyptian wasn't at his best in the
game. However, he had to put the Egyptian in the starting
eleven in last night's match because of the lack in
midfielders in the team. In addition to this, Ali Boussaboun
also started despite playing a bad game last week for
the same reason.
The Egyptian didn't perform superbly but
the rest of the team were also out of form. Kalou and
Kuyt were isolated at front and couldn't get a single
clear chance because of the heavy marking on them. As
well as this, the other players were sluggish and surrendered
easily to marking from Roda's players.

Feyenoord's only danger came through a few long range shots
but again, the shots weren't placed well and the goalkeeper
of Roda was able to handle them without much difficulty.
The only goal of the game came in the 31st minute
through Sergio who fired the ball directly home into the roof
of the net after a cross from the left wing. The Brazilian
was guarded by two Feyenoord defenders but they failed to
clear the ball before him and the goalkeeper Lodeweiks only
watched the ball entering his net but he didn't move.
Ghaly had an average performance, he gave the
ball away a couple of times which resulted in counter attacks
for the opponents but rather than that, his passes were good
and accurate. The Egyptian couldn't supply Kalou and Kuyt
with many through passes though because of the heavy marking
on them.
In the 70th minute, Erwin Koeman decided to
make a change in order to increase his attacking options.
He brought the young forward Beseswar in to replace Hossam
Ghaly but the youngster failed to cause any danger on the
Roda side and the score remained 1-0 till the final whistle.
