Once again, Feyenoord performed badly against weak teams. It was expected that the Rotterdammers will return back from the Hague with three points especially after their impressive win over PSV Eindhoven last week. However, the game was only easy on paper and den Haag gave Feyenoord hard time during the game and managed to defeat them by two goals to one.

A naive handball inside the penalty area from Feyenoord's Pascal Booschaart cost Feyenoord dear as the referee awarded Den Haag a penalty kick just two minutes from the kick off. Den Ouden took the penalty kick and scored from the spot to give the homeside the early lead.

The early goal gave Den Haag a morale boost and they started fighting hard in order to protect their lead. Their job was easy because of the sloppy play by Feyenoord as the Rotterdammers looked very confused in the game.

Feyenoord's first real chance came through a fine through pass from the defender Greene to Jonathan de Guzman who advanced on the keeper but his lack of confidence allowed the goalkeeper to steal the ball from him.

Feyenoord had another chance in the first 45 minutes through Ali Boussaboun who missed the target from close range.

Egyptian star Hossam Ghaly played from the start but Koeman decided to increase his attaching options in the second half and so, he replaced the Egyptian with the forward Diego Biseswar in the 62nd minute of the game.

In the 67th minute, Feyenoord managed to equalize through a powerful header from Kalou who headed the ball home after a fine cross from the left wing by De Guzman.

After the equalizer, Den Haag didn't gave up and got some real chances, but Feyenoord's keeper managed to parry a powerful header from close range away. On the other side, Serginho Greene had a chance from a one on one situation with Den Haag's keeper but the latter managed to save the ball with his foot.

In the 79th minute and from a corner kick, Saavredra scored with a powerful header to make the score 2-1 for Den Haag and to make the job harder and harder for the guests who failed to level the score till the final whistle.

With this unexpected defeat, Feyenoord became 3rd and three points away from PSV and AZ while Den Haag moved up to the 13th spot in the table.
