Evening Standard Sport reported that the
Arsenal manager say Feyenoord and Vitesse Arnhem draw
0-0 in Rotterdam yesterday as he checked out three prime
candidates for future roles.
On show were Feyenoord's Egyptian Hossam Ghaly, youngster
Jonathan de Guzman and forward Dirk Kuyt. The Evening
Standard says: "Ghaly is an Egyptian international
who plays in central midfield and Ruud Gullit, his former
manager, believes he has the potential to be "a
world class player, but he
must be more professional and make fewer mistakes."
He is built in the Vieria mould and valued at around
£3 million. Dutch television station Talpa, who
are first division rights holders, said Arsenal were
"seriously interested" in the 23 year old
who joined Feyenoord in 2003 on a four-year contract
from Al- Ahly."
The newspaper then carries on talking about the other two
players and their abilities and how they would fit into the
Arsenal team.
Yet Wenger is unlikely to buy in the January transfer and
change his policy of not buying in the January transfer window
but will monitor the progress of the trio with a view to a
summer swoop in the close season.
