Feyenoord almost took the lead early on when Kaou was clearly fouled inside the box, it was a certain penalty but the referee thought differently and waved play on! That goal could make things much easier for the Rotterdammers.

The home side had more chances on goal, a strike from Kalou that was denied by the post, a header from Bahia that was cleared off the line, and a few other attempts from Kuyt and Cstelen. However, Feyenoord couldn't convert any of the chances and the game ended in their first goal-less draw of the season.

Regarding Ghaly, the Egyptian played for 83 minutes and was replaced by Ali Boussaboun. Reports from Rotterdam revealed that Arsenal FC' boss Arsene Wenger attended the game from the stands in order to have a closer look at Egyptian midfielder Ghaly and other talents at Feyenoord.
