Hossam Ghaly's Feyenoord lost the first spot to PSV Eindhoven as they suffered their 2nd defeat in the season at the hands of RKC.

The game was a tough test for Feyenoord as RKC won already 6 games out of the nine games they played which put them in the 4th spot in the table.

The first real chance came after just a few minutes from the kick off and the post denied a powerful shot from RKC side.

Later on, the post saved Feyenoord from another goal and it seemed that the Rotterdammers will face more problems in the game.

In the 24th minute, RKC won a freekick just outside the area. Their no. 9 hit it low and his shot went centimeters wide.

The pressure kept building on and Maarten put the homeside ahead in the 32nd minute when he chipped the ball with his left into the far corner. 1-0 for RKC.

In the 43rd minute of the game, Feyenoord started to attack and Hossam Ghaly was about to level the score. The Egyptian received a chip pass from Kuyt and managed to take the ball past his marker, he then faced the keeper but the last finish from Hossam wasn't good enough as the keeper stopped the ball with his leg.

In the 2nd half, Feyenoord continued their pressure and a shot from Romeo Castelen was denied by the goalkeeper.

In the 65th minute, Castelen crossed the ball to Kuyt in the six yards box and the latter was left with a simple finish, however, his header went wide and the chance was squandered.

In the 77th minute, Ghaly sent a chip pass into the area, the ball was headed away by an RKC defender but Kuyt managed to headed it on back into the box to find Castelen who fired it home with his right. 1-1.

A few minutes later, the post saved Feyenoord from conceding another goal for the third time!

In the 87th minute, Ghaly came off and was replaced by the Tunisian defender Karim Saidi.

In the 90th minute, RKC won a freekick in the left wing just outside the box, the cross was made, Virgilio Teixeira reacted faster than Kuyt (who came back to defend) and buried the ball into the bottom corner to grant RKC the precious win and to send Feyenoord to the 3rd spot in the table.
