Surely it was a sad night for Feyenoord and Hossam
Ghaly as they got unexpectedly eliminated from the championship
that they won its title a few years ago. The side failed
to beat Rapid and even lost the game 1-0. Ghaly was
below average and Koeman replaced him during half time
with an 18 year old youngster.
Ghaly didn't perform as he used to do in Eredivise matches
Feyenoord got eliminated from UEFA cup
and couldn't take their superb Eredivisie form with
them to Bucharest. They lost their match by a single
goal and the whole team didn't perform as they should
do.
In the 14th minute, Feyenoord's defender
Östlund let Bucharest's forward Buga advanced to
the area and shoot at goal, the goalkeeper Lodewijks
parried the ball away but it fell to Buge again who
headed it home this time to give the homeside the lead.
Feyenoord's defense did look shaky as
Ghaly and the defender Greene weren't at their best
which made the job even more difficult for Feyenoord.
Near the end of the first half, Hossam
Ghaly attempted to nutmeg his marker but it didn't work
and tat resulted in a fast counter attack for the home
side, Ghaly's teammate Bahia had to commit a harsh foul
to stop that attack which resulted in a yellow card
for him.

Erwin Koeman wasn't too happy with Ghaly's performance in
the first half and so, he replaced him with the 18 year old
youngster Jonathan de Guzman.
In the 2nd half, and in absence of Ghaly, Feyenoord
wasn't any better and their problems continued. Rapid on the
other side, pressed on Feyenoord and forced them to defend.
Things only improved starting from the 70th minute as the
Rotterdammers started to have better control on midfield area
and created some chances. However, they didn't succeed to
score the much needed equalizer and the result was their early
exit from UEFA cup.
