El Saka to EP: Besiktas Interested"
Date: 18-10-2004
Wrote: EP's reporter in Turkey Ali AVCI

EXCLUSIVE: "I may leave Gencler in the 'half season'. Trabzonspor offered me a contract and I think our chairman will allow me to go, as to earn money from my transfer. This is because I'm in the last year of my contract and I am seriously thinking of living some changes in my footballing life".... These were Abdelzaher El Saka's statements to EP in recent weeks.

There are now new developments about the successful Egyptian defender of Genclerbirligi. El Saka has a good name among the foreign defenders of the Turkish league and he is in the last year of his contract with the capital club, Gencler. The experienced defender is a good marker, a playmaker from the back and a good supporter from defense for his team, with some crucial goals.

Trabzonspor's manager Ziya Dogan is interested in signing an Egyptian in the half-season transfer window. Ayman Abdelaziz and Abdelzaher El Saka are in the transfer shortlist of the Northern side. There is some transfer news about both players in the Turkish dailies and Trabzon are waiting for the right time to contact their teams, Malatya and Genclerbirligi.

But in the most recent news, Abdelzaher El Saka's name is written in the Besiktas pages. The important papers of Fanatik, Sabah and Hurriyet claimed that Besiktas have contacted with the Egyptian to sign for the new year. El Saka seems set to sign for Besiktas if the manager, Vicente Del Bosque, approves the move.

EP called El Saka and learned the latest about his move and his last days with his Gencler..

EP: We want to know about your transfer possibility to Besiktas.

AE: Yes. My Agent, Alper said to me that Besiktas contacted him and they may sign me in January. But I personally didn't talk to Besiktas. My agent has the authority to talk to clubs.

EP: Will you talk to anyone from BJK?

AE: No. I heard about the interest of Besiktas from my agent. What the papers say is true, but I can't say for certain now. The move will be clear after one or two weeks.

EP: It seems you will leave Gencler...

AE: Yes, probably in January. My contract will finish at the end of the season.

EP: Trabzon were also interested in signing you...

AE: Surely they wanted me. I was very close to signing for them. I'm waiting for the half-season to find out my new team.

EP: Besiktas or Trabzon?

AE: Inshallah I'll find out soon. But Trabzon are more serious about my transfer.

EP: Have you talked to Ahmed Hassan about your transfer to Besiktas?

AE: I always talk to Hassan. He called me, and we always agree to play together. I'll go to Istanbul for the Istanbulspor match and I'll meet Hassan again.

EP: El Saka... We hope to see you in the club which you want most. What about your current club? What do you think of your new manager, Oguz Cetin?

AE: He is really good. Oguz Cetin is a good technical manager. His disciplinary system is very important and I think he can gain success with his system. Oguz Cetin can turn Gencler back to their old days.

EP: Finally, you scored last night. What do you think about this?

AE: Yes. I'm so happy about it. I want to see my goal on Egyptianplayers.com and can say that this goal helped us to win the three points. Scoring is important but the three points are more important. I'm very happy to see my team win the game.

EP: Thank you very much El Saka. We await your transfer news.
